The Ridgefield boys track team finished in a tie for 5th place with Danbury at the Connecticut State Open Championships today, scoring 24 points. RHS scorers advancing to the New England Championships are:
4x400m relay (3rd in 3:29.72): Max Day, Kristian Sogaard, David Angelo, Johnathan Keating
600m (2nd in 1:22.70): Johnathan Keating
1000m (2nd in 2:32.46): Kristian Sogaard
3200m (5th in 9:24.37): Clint Corso
The Ridgefield girls track team finished in a tie for 30th place, scoring four points. Those four points enabled six girls to advance to the New England Championships in three events. They are:
4x800m relay (6th in 9:43.06): Katie Jasminski, Hannah Mercorella, Ava Kelley, Julia Hergenrother
1000m (6th in 3:06.11): Kelsey Bordash
1600m (5th in 5:09.69): Hannah Fleming
The New England Championships will be held on Friday, February 27 at 4:30 PM in the Reggie Lewis Center, Roxbury, MA.
For those interested in throwing the javelin in outdoor track this spring, Coach Rich DeStefano is once again running his spring clinic the weekend prior to the start of indoor track. Coach DeStefano was instrumental in coaching RHS graduate Ellie Gravitte to two All-American awards and a New England record in the javelin.
